This is a house centipede (Scutigera coleoptrata) that was zipping along my wall. It was difficult to get a good picture because a) he was about eight feet up the wall, b) it was dark, and c) this is probably the fastest species of centipede in the world. Incidentally, these aren't really pests; they actually prey on smaller, more annoying, and more ubiquitous arthropods.
