This was the second autocross even that I've raced in, after having missed two earlier in May because of school. It was very different driving in this huge, flat, concrete area out in front of a hangar at Chanute in Rantoul. No light posts, no concrete islands, no lumps and hills. More importantly, the space was probably three or four times the size of the Assembly Hall parking lot, and we weren't even using all of it. The course (which I helped set up by pulling the trailer with the cones around with Jim Hamilton's Mustang :) was more tight and complicated than last time, but it was harder to get lost (for me, at least), since there weren't any crossings or anything like that. Anyway, I managed once again to get through without hitting any cones while improving my time on every run. It was good enough for second place. (I got beat out by a great driver in a nice Honda Civic Si, which you can see pictures of in tomorrows race.) There were somewhere around 25 cars racing, which meant we all got six laps, which meant more time to get used to the course.
