About a week before I took these photos, we had a pretty serious ice storm. Just as that was thawing, we got a ridiculous amount of rain, flooding the roads and swelling rivers, and the temperature shot up to 60°F! Then, just as suddenly, the temperature plummetted to below zero. (It's right at 0°F as I write this, and it will undoubtedly get colder tonight.) This uncommon meteorological frenzy is responsible for these rather strange photos.
